Full / Real Name: Mohammed El Hadi Mzouri
Mohammed El Hadi Mzouri (Arabic: محمد الهادي مزوري) is a Moroccan singer and songwriter who emerged from the vibrant musical scene of the Souss-Massa region. Born and raised in a family of traditional Gnawa musicians, he grew up surrounded by the rhythmic chants and spiritual poetry of his heritage. He began performing at local festivals and wedding celebrations as a teenager, honing a deep, resonant baritone that blends the raw emotiveness of Moroccan folk with contemporary pop sensibilities. Mzouri’s breakthrough came in 2012 with the hit single “Lala Lila,” a modern reinterpretation of a classic Chaâbi melody that quickly topped the Moroccan charts and earned heavy rotation on national radio. The song’s success propelled him onto the stages of major festivals such as Mawazine in Rabat and the Essaouira Gnaoua & World Music Festival, where his dynamic live performances have been praised for their energetic delivery and authentic connection to the audience. Over the years he has released several well‑received albums, including *Rihla* (2015) and *Souk al‑Qalb* (2019), featuring collaborations with notable Moroccan artists like Saad Lamjarred and Oum. While he has not yet secured a major international award, Mzouri has been nominated multiple times for the Moroccan Music Awards in categories such as Best Male Vocalist and Best Traditional Fusion Album. He continues to explore the crossroads of traditional Andalusian, Gnawa, and modern pop music, positioning himself as a bridge between Morocco’s rich musical past and its contemporary pop culture.
